Currently, we are participating with the County Office of Emergency Management to update themunicipality’s Hazard Mitigation Plan.  The original plan was adopted several years ago and needs to be updated to maintain eligibility for certain federal grants as well as make sure we are working together to reduce the risk from natural disasters and hazards to the extent possible.  If you are interested in learning more about this project, please visit the project website at

As part of the on-going update of the Cumberland County Multi-Jurisdictional Hazard Mitigation Plan, a Preliminary Municipal Appendix is available for review that addresses natural hazard mitigation issues for our community. The Preliminary Municipal Appendix can be downloaded from http://nj4hmp.com by clicking on “Cumberland County” and then clicking on "Lawrence Township”. Comments can be submitted via the “Contact Us” page on the website. However, please note that comments must be submitted no later than Wednesday, December 24, 2014.

Lawrence Township is located in the central part of southern Cumberland County. It includes an abundance of productive farmland, beautiful natural areas, including streams, lakes and wetlands and the village of Bay Point on the Delaware Bay.  The unincorporated historic village of Cedarville is  the commercial, residential and governmental center of this Township that covers 38.5 sq. miles.
